PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS

Probability and Statistics are important branches of Math. Probability deals with the calculation of the 'possibility' or the 'chances' of the occurrence of a particular event. The Probability is given by the formula:
P(Event) = P(Particular event)/ P(Total number of outcomes)
There are different types of Probability based on the nature of the events:
  • Conditional Probability
  • Marginal Probability
  • Joint Probability
Students can learn to solve problems on Probability by observing the solved examples. They can solve problems following similar steps.

Statistics is the study of the 'behavioral patter' of a particular 'sample' or 'population'. It involves various components of computation like:
  • Calculation of Mean
  • Calculation of Median
  • Calculation of Mode
  • Calculation of the Cumulative frequency distribution
Students should understand the basics clearly in order to work with Probability and statistics problems under Math.
